The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need

The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need is an institution for children who require immediate help provided in accordance with Section 42 of the Act on the Social and Legal Protection of Children (359/1999 Coll.) The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need is a special-purpose, social-care institution integrated in the Centre of Social Services, contributory organization, Brno. The Centre of Social Services, contr. org., is an institution founded and financed by the corporate town Brno.

The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need is situated in the peripheral, quiet area of Brno and is easily accessible by means of municipal public transport.

Children or adolescents can visit our institution alone or accompanied by a parent, different adult person or a friend.

The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need provides both ambulatory and boarding services:

 Ambulatory services of The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need provide short-term psychological help (crisis intervention) as well as long-term counselling or psychotherapeutic help to children, adolescents and their families which find themselves in a difficult life situation. We specialize in psychological diagnostics and psychotherapy of children and adolescents traumatized by maltreatment, neglect and sexual abuse. We deal with the problem of psychological trauma in its all extent and all forms (trauma caused by crime, natural disaster or accident, by sudden death of a close person etc.) We guide children, adolescents and their families through divorce and custody cases. We participate in the research and prevention of these negative social phenomena.

Boarding services of The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need are offered to our underage clients. They are provided with accommodation in the period necessary for resolving their problematic life situation. Friendly atmosphere and “family” approach of our workers enable our clients to adapt themselves quickly to the new environment. We arrange for the children to attend their original school. According to circumstances of each case, we try for the children to maintain contact with their family, friends and other close people. Within the scope of complex care we help children with their school preparation; we accompany them to their appointments at the doctor’s and support their after-school activity attendance.

In The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need there are six two-bed bedrooms with a shared bathroom.

Our clients can use a shared dining room with a kitchenette, a playroom and an art workshop.

All clients of The Centre for Children and Adolescents in Need may also use large garden and its facilities.
